Meet Googlebook, the New Gemini‑Powered, Android-Based Laptop Line That Will Succeed Chromebook


On Tuesday, Google announced the Googlebook, its new AI laptop line that succeeds a decade and a half of Chromebooks. The company positions Googlebook as a laptop line built around its Gemini intelligence system and an Android‑based OS. While existing Chromebooks will continue to receive updates, the Googlebook will sit above Chromebooks as a more premium option.

Googlebook uses an Android-based platform that combines regular desktop browsing with access to mobile apps. Gemini sits at the center of the experience, helping users across apps and web content. It also comes with a new “Magic Pointer” cursor that lets users summon Gemini directly within anything displayed onscreen.
