Google Gives macOS a Dedicated Gemini App


Previously, Apple and Google announced a multi‑year deal where Apple uses Google’s Gemini models for Apple Intelligence.

Google has launched a dedicated Gemini app for macOS, bringing its AI assistant directly to the desktop for Macs with Apple silicon running macOS 15 Sequoia and later.

The app's introduction follows Apple and Google's January announcement of a multi‑year deal in which Gemini will power the (repeatedly delayed) next-generation Siri. The brands say Gemini will power some of Apple's foundational models, run new Siri capabilities, and back more Apple Intelligence features that Apple plans to roll out starting later this year.

After installing the app, users can launch it via the global Option + Space shortcut or open a full-window interface to chat with the assistant without switching to a browser.
