Xbox’s Upcoming ‘Highlight Reels’ Tool Uses AI to Auto‑Save Your Clutch Moments


Microsoft's Xbox team is testing a new feature called "Highlight Reels" (internally, "Clip That") that could arrive first on the ROG Xbox Ally X handheld. The tool uses Ally X's built-in neural processing unit (NPU) to automatically capture exciting gameplay moments without players needing to press a capture button. Internal builds say the system runs at the OS level and works across many PC games.

According to sources who spoke with Windows Insider, early testing has included games such as Fortnite, Call of Duty, Overwatch 2, Rocket League, League of Legends, DOTA 2, and Forza Horizon 5. The tool looks for intense or high-impact moments, like final kills, boss takedowns, or clutch plays, then saves short clips that players can review and share.
