Xbox ROG Ally Can Now Automatically Fine-Tune Frame Rate, Power Consumption

The preview launch covers first-party games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and 7, Forza Horizon 5, Gears of War: Reloaded, DOOM: The Dark Ages, and more.

Xbox just rolled out a major update for the ROG Xbox Ally handheld that brings Default Game Profiles to about 40 games. The feature automatically fine-tunes the frame rate and power consumption without manual tweaking.

Default Game Profiles work by setting a target frame rate and power limit (TDP) specific to each game when you're playing on battery. If a game is not reaching its target frame rate, the system increases power to achieve it. This makes the game run smoother but uses more battery. On the other hand, if performance exceeds the target, the system limits the frame rate to conserve battery.
