Most enterprises treat digital trust as a compliance obligation rather than a business strategy, and that posture is becoming increasingly risky. Many organizations are waiting for complete asset discovery, but that approach wastes the time they do not have, said Lakshmi Hanspal, chief trust officer at DigiCert.

Regulatory mandates requiring PQC readiness are in effect for 2026, with full migration to quantum-safe algorithms due by 2030. The right move, Hanspal said, is to inventory known cryptographic assets, assign ownership to drive accountability, form a cross-functional PQC committee and migrate highest-risk systems first.
"The harvest now, decrypt later problem is here, and it's a very real risk today," Hanspal said.
