As we’ve seen in recent months, it’s essentially de rigeur these days for a retailer to be able to announce that it’s signed a partnership agreement with OpenAI, all of them unique and exclusive and not at all bandwagon-clambering in nature, no siree.

To that long list we can add US home improvement firm Lowe’s which is looking to OpenAI to assist in integration generative AI into its retail operations with the aim of improving product data quality. The company reckons that by tweaking the GPT-3.5 model, it has seen a 20% increase in data accuracy and a 60% boost to error detection.

Now, to be fair to Lowes here, it isn’t putting all its eggs into one AI basket - the firm also has commercial partnerships with the likes of Google, for advanced analytics, and NVIDIA, around computer vision. But it is clearly all ...
