Washington Scrutinizes Trump's Push for AI Speed Over Safety

The White House’s top science advisor told U.S. lawmakers Wednesday that the Trump administration has moved from "strategy to execution" on artificial intelligence policy.

Michael Kratsios, director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, pitched a hand-off regulatory approach, an expanded energy infrastructure and aggressive global technology exports as central to maintaining U.S. dominance in the AI race.

"We're working with industry and the American people to relieve innovators of undue regulatory burdens," Kratsios said during a House Science, Space and Technology subcommittee hearing.
