Verifiable Credentials Counter AI-Driven Identity Fraud

Artificial intelligence-driven fraud and synthetic identities have weakened legacy identity checks, allowing attackers to exploit weaknesses in identity platforms that weren't built for automated deception, said Vivek Raman, vice president and general manager at Okta Personal.

Verifiable digital credentials offer a cryptographically secure alternative tied to biometrics, enabling stronger trust and protection against impersonation, Raman said. Unlike traditional checks, VDC credentials stay tied to an individual's identity and cannot be copied or altered.
