Tesla to Stop Making Model S and X as It Pivots to Humanoid Robots


Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced during an earnings call on Wednesday that the company was discontinuing its classic Model S and Model X vehicles. According to The Verge, the primary reason for the shift is to retool Tesla's existing manufacturing facilities for robotics as Musk transitions the EV company to one that focuses on AI and robotic development.

"It's time to basically bring the Model S and X programs to an end with an honorable discharge, because we're really moving into a future that is based on autonomy," he said. "So if you're interested in buying a Model S and X, now would be the time to order it."
