A top Senate Republican wants to give artificial intelligence developers a time out from regulation by allowing them to test new technology with little to no government oversight.

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, introduced the Sandbox AI Act in September to provide artificial intelligence companies with an opportunity to apply for temporary exemptions from federal regulations in order to test new technologies with minimal oversight.
