South Korean media outlets report that the company is considering price hikes of $30 to $60 on base models, per our colleagues at PCMag, marking the first price increase for the Galaxy S series in three years.
The hikes are believed to be related to the ongoing memory crisis, which is driven by AI infrastructure expansion. Companies that operate large data centers are buying memory chips in record amounts, forcing smartphone manufacturers to compete for limited DRAM supplies. Mobile DRAM prices have jumped 16% compared to early 2025, while overall DRAM costs have climbed 171% year-over-year, according to industry data. Just last month, we reported that Samsung itself was poised to raise prices by up to 60% on certain memory products.
