Photoshop Introduces Conversational AI Photo Editor

Adobe is going all-in on generative AI. After introducing generative fill to Photoshop in 2023, full image generation via Firefly in 2024, and Photoshop, Express, and Acrobat integration with ChatGPT in 2025, the brand announced Tuesday that it's bringing an AI-powered photo editing tool to Photoshop. The beta version of the plainly-named AI Assistant lets users edit images via prompts on the web and within Photoshop's mobile apps.

Photoshop's AI Assistant uses Adobe's Firefly generative AI models and Sensei automation to understand instructions like "remove the person in the background" or "make the colors more vivid," then applies those changes, which can be manually edited later. Users can type or speak what they want to change, and the assistant can either apply the edit directly or guide them through the steps if they want to learn the workflow.
