OpenAI Brings Codex AI Coding App to Windows


OpenAI's Codex coding app is available on Windows after a period of exclusivity to macOS. The app is a hub where developers can manage multiple AI agents within a single project, allowing them to write code, create tests, refactor, and debug across different programming languages.

Codex runs agents in a native sandbox that uses OS‑level controls such as Restricted Tokens, filesystem permissions, and firewall rules to keep each project's workspace isolated.

On Windows, agents run commands via PowerShell by default. The app also supports WSL projects, allowing users to work across Linux and Windows environments on the same machine. OpenAI says the app gives integrations with tools like Visual Studio, VS Code, and Git workflows to help teams plug Codex into existing setups.
