Okta claims strengthened its commitment to the Indian market with the launch of in-country Okta Platform tenants, enabling data residency and enhanced disaster recovery for organisations operating in highly regulated sectors such as banking, financial services, insurance and healthcare.

Announced in Bengaluru on January 16, 2026, the move is aimed at helping Indian enterprises securely scale their AI initiatives while meeting evolving regulatory, compliance and resilience requirements. By hosting Okta Platform tenants locally on AWS infrastructure, organisations can now store identity data within India, addressing growing concerns around sovereignty, governance and operational continuity.
