New Bing Ads Push Edge When Users Search for Chrome
extremetech.comMicrosoft has started running a new ad on Bing that compares Microsoft Edge with Google Chrome. When users search "Chrome" on Bing, the results page displays a promotional banner spotlighting Edge as the better option. The banner says Edge "runs on the same technology as Chrome, with the added trust of Microsoft."
As our colleagues at PCMag noted last year, Microsoft has a habit of injecting Edge ads into Bing searches for Chrome. What makes this ad different is how Edge and Chrome are compared. A scoreboard-style table appears above the user's search results, placing the Edge logo in blue against a greyed-out Chrome logo. The chart gives Edge ticks across these categories—rewards, a built-in VPN, security on Windows 11, and AI personalization—while Chrome is marked with Xs throughout.
