Monday Morning Moan - memo to Trump 2.0: it's a Federal AI regulatory power grab that will really strangle Western innovation

US President Donald Trump Administration leakers have begun testing the waters for a proposed Executive Order that would effectively restrict US State laws and regulations related to AI. Also, Senior Republican Leaders have begun testing the waters of an effort to reintroduce a ban on the enforcement of AI laws as an addendum to a pending defense bill.

Meanwhile, some Republican colleagues, like Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, are showing a little backbone. He is pushing back against these efforts that make it harder to regulate big tech companies from censoring free speech, harming kids, violating IP, and jacking up water and power costs. DeSantis writes on X:
