macOS Tahoe 26.2 Features Built-In Ring Light for Video Calls, Streaming

The next macOS update, Tahoe 26.2, will let you enable an on-screen "ring light" for video calls and streaming sessions in dimly lit rooms. Called Edge Light, the feature illuminates a glowing border at the edge of the screen, brightening your face in otherwise low-light settings.

Edge Light uses Apple's Neural Engine to find your face within the video frame. The system then positions the lighting to highlight your face and reduces the effect as needed to let you access screen content easily. When you move your mouse toward the edge of the display or outside the video window, the illuminated border begins to fade, making sure it does not block important parts of the desktop.
