Lucid Motors Breaks EV Distance Record, Managing 749 Miles on 1 Charge
extremetech.comCalifornia-based electric vehicle company Lucid Motors has broken the Guinness World Record for the longest journey completed by an electric car on a single charge. The Lucid Air Grand Touring sedan managed 749 miles between Munich, Germany, and St. Moritz in Switzerland without charging once. The journey included alpine roads, highways, and smaller secondary roads and extends the previous electric distance record by 99 miles.
When it comes to electric vehicles, one of the most iconic metrics for their capabilities is single-charge travel distances. As battery capacities have increased, aerodynamics have improved, and electric motors have grown ever more efficient, the range has extended dramatically over the past two decades.
