'It's still in our portfolio. We're not end of life [on] the product': Samsung exec on why the Galaxy S25 Edge is so important and here to stay

Think back to the January 2026 Unpacked and one moment stands out above all others: the big Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge tease. The ultra-thin and light S25 Edge arrived alongside its Galaxy S25 smartphone siblings, but it was still in the development oven.

We could see the 5.8mm thick phone but not touch it. It would take another five months for the Galaxy S25 Edge to arrive in our and consumers' hands. It was the thinnest Galaxy phone ever, until just a few months later, we met the insanely slim Galaxy Z Fold 7 (just 4.2mm thick when unfolded).

If I'm being honest, that incredible frame trumped the S25 Edge's dimensions, so much so that I was left wondering why the Edge didn't start closer to 5mm. Even the iPhone Air, which launched in September 2026, was just 5.64mm ...
