Intel Core Ultra X9 388H Panther Lake CPU Gains Ground on AMD in Leaked Results


Intel might have taken a beating from AMD with its recent generations of processors, but it's not out of the fight yet. Early test numbers for its next-generation Core Ultra X9 388H flagship Panther Lake mobile CPU suggest it's almost 10% faster than AMD's AI Max+ 395 CPU, making up significant ground and opening up exciting potential for next-generation laptops in 2026.

Intel has been quite cagey about the performance of its Panther Lake processors, and based on the configurations of the CPUs and recent Intel architectural changes, it wasn't expected to be anything that impressive. If anything, it was more of a sideways move from Arrow Lake that would set Intel up well for the future. But now it's looking like these chips might be not just fast, but very fast.
