How Yorkshire Wildlife Trust has ditched manual expenses and invoice spreadsheets in favor of automated workflows
diginomica.comWith around 45,000 members, over 100 nature reserves and 200 staff - about half of whom are out in the field - technology is crucial for Yorkshire Wildlife Trust’s day-to-day operations. This is the case whether it’s field workers carrying out a survey via geographic information systems or drones for monitoring, or someone raising a purchase order or approving expenses in head office.
Yorkshire Wildlife Trust (YWT) operates across the four counties of Yorkshire running a diverse range of projects, from peat restoration to re-carbonating the Humber, from river projects with the Environment Agency to working with renewable companies on offshore wind.
More recently, YWT is developing two bigger strands of work: species recovery, for example red squirrels and beaver reintroduction; and then what the charity calls green finance, so biodiversity net gain by working with local housing developers to ensure that nature thrives during building projects.
