"If you don't have an unstructured data management strategy, you probably aren't going to have an AI strategy," said Nick Burling, chief product officer at Nasuni.

The difference between success and failure often comes down to three critical areas: data curation, security and cost management. Organizations must understand what data they have, who has access to it and where duplicates exist before exposing it to AI systems. Without proper curation, even simple use cases can produce unpredictable results - or "AI slop," he said.
