How enterprises can make compliance with the European Accessibility Act more accessible


The European Accessibility Act (EAA) may have come into force in June this year, but compliance is proving far from straightforward for many employers. Legal ambiguity, a lack of clear guidance relating to compliance, and technical complexity are the main offenders.

The Act itself is focused on consumer protection. Its aim is to standardize accessibility requirements for specific products and services sold anywhere across the European Union’s (EU) Single Market. The idea is that consumers here should be clear about what they can expect to receive and have access to offerings that do what they say on the tin.

As a result, any business-to-consumer company with more than 10 employees or revenues of E2 million that sells into the region, no matter where they are based in the world, must comply with the legislation.
