Google Rolls Out January Patch With Major GPU Fixes for Pixel 10 Series
extremetech.comThis week, Google began rolling out the January 2026 security update for Pixel phones. This new patch runs Android 16 QPR2 and brings what the company calls "general improvements for GPU performance in certain conditions" to the Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, and 10 Pro Fold.
The Pixel 10 series has struggled with GPU problems since the day it launched. Many complaints concern Google's Tensor G5 chip, prompting the company to promise improved GPU performance in the future. This January patch is one of its biggest efforts to solve these issues.
The update also fixes an Always-on Display flicker issue that occurs whenever the clock changes or a notification arrives, as well as a touch screen bug in which the screen intermittently stops responding to touch. Some Pixel 10 users may notice improved battery life under certain conditions.
