Google Retires Classic Android Weather 'App,' Rolls Out Redesigned Search-Based Experience

Google's Weather "app" for non-Pixel Android phones and tablets works as an extension of the Google app, not a standalone program. Users must add the shortcut, marked by a sun icon with a "G" badge, to their home screen for access.
But even that option has an expiration date. Reports from the past few weeks reveal that the shortcut stops opening the dedicated weather view and loads Google Search pages, 9to5Google reports. Some users see a message that reads, "The weather page has moved. Your home screen shortcut now leads to Google Search."
