Google Releases Gemini 3 Flash With Improved Speed and Reasoning

This week, Google announced an addition to its Gemini 3 family: Gemini 3 Flash. The update comes after the company launched Gemini 2.5 Pro and Flash earlier this year and the more recent Gemini 3 Pro last month. Google says Gemini 3 Flash combines the reasoning capabilities of its Pro models with the low latency of the Flash series.

The company claims Gemini 3 Flash pushes the boundaries of quality versus cost. The model achieves 90.4% on the GPQA Diamond benchmark and 78% on SWE-bench Verified, scores that Google says beat the previous Gemini 2.5 Pro model.

By modulating how much it "thinks" based on the task, Gemini 3 Flash uses 30% fewer tokens on average than 2.5 Pro. Gemini 3 Flash will now be the default model in the Gemini app (within the Fast and Thinking settings) and on the web.
