Google Quietly Puts Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 on Quarterly Update Track


Google has moved the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series to a quarterly update schedule, meaning these devices won't be receiving the monthly security patches they've historically enjoyed. Newer Pixels are unaffected.

A change became apparent around July 2025, when the Pixel 6 lineup began missing monthly updates. By November 2025, both series had skipped several monthly patches. Now, Google's February 2026 update confirms that the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro will receive their next patch in March 2026.

Google has not formally announced this policy change, but responded to user concerns by saying Pixel phones will "remain security compliant for the full duration of their support windows," Droid Life reports.
