Google No Longer Uses AI to Answer Some Medical Queries

The company quietly removed the AI-generated feature from queries like "what is the normal range for liver blood tests" and similar health-related searches.
The change comes after The Guardian exposed the tool's grave inaccuracies earlier this month. The outlet's investigation found that AI Overviews appeared in response to 44.1% of medical queries and regularly provided guidance that an actual medical professional would never offer.
In one shocking scenario, the feature told pancreatic cancer patients to avoid high-fat foods—advice that contradicts medical guidelines and could increase patient mortality risk. Health experts at Pancreatic Cancer UK called this advice "very dangerous," warning that it could prevent patients from consuming enough calories to undergo cancer treatment or surgery.
