From logs to leverage - lessons from Dynatrace and Vodafone’s observability shift


As digital systems scale, telemetry volumes explode, and AI reshapes operations, traditional log management strategies are no longer fit for purpose. What once passed for visibility is now a barrier – expensive, siloed, and detached from business outcomes.

According to Mala Pillutla, Vice President of Sales for Logs, observability has become an AI-scale data problem – and that means logs must be re-imagined to support resilience, not just detection.

Observability is becoming an AI problem

Pillutla is clear that today’s observability challenges can’t be solved with more dashboards or brute-force indexing. As she explains:

There’s simply too much telemetry – logs, metrics, traces, events – for human operators to parse. If not managed well, logs in particular will see a significant increase in volume, making root cause analysis nearly impossible without automation.
