Enterprise hits and misses - big retailers face off with AI, but can enterprise LLMs hedge the AI bubble?


With Walmart’s interest in AI well-established, the firm is building towards an e-commerce experience that is more personalized and relevant, and multi-modal with a voice, text, image and video experience that is more conversational. Today, almost a third of Walmart’s business is digital, with delivery speeds paying a huge part in this, noted outgoing CEO Doug McMillion. In Q3, 35% of digital orders were delivered from stores in less than three hours.

Total comparable sales fell 2.7% year-on-year. Digital sales were up 2.4%, but even that was lower than Wall Street was expecting and offset by by a 3.8% fall in in-store revenues. So what’s to be done to turn around this ...
