Organizations that struggle with data security rollouts aren't burdened by financial constraints or poor tooling. But they often misjudge how much work goes into security planning.

Antonio Maio, managing director at global consulting firm Protiviti, said many enterprises approach data protection programs by focusing purely on the technology, when they should be fucusing on authentication and labeling systems before anything goes live.

Rollouts with lasting impact start with cross-team coordination and communication, he said. When teams converge in a cohesive and timely manner, data security rollouts are less disruptive.
