Claude having artificially intelligent hiccups and access lockouts for over two hours


Anthropic’s AI service Claude is having artificially intelligent hiccups and availability problems across its basic chat service, API, and Claude Code offering.

The outfit’s Status Page reports investigations into the problem commenced at 03:15 UTC on March 3rd. In three subsequent updates, the last time-stamped 04:43 UTC, the company again reported “We are continuing to investigate this issue.”

The Register tried to access the service at 05:10 UTC and was unable to log in. Claude produced the following error message.

Anthropic’s social media accounts are silent on the matter, but users are filling in the blanks.

A common comment laments the fact that Claude going down means developers must revert to their pre-generative-AI habits and actually write some code without assistance.
