CES 2026 - a long week kicks off with 'The AI Show with Gary and Kinsey'. What happens in Vegas etc etc

A question that might of course be raised at any tech sector event over the past 18 months, but on this occasion was aired by Gary Shapiro, CEO of the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) as he opened this week’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

His kick-off co-host, CTA President Kinsey Fabrizio, had a suggestion to make:

Should we make a little drinking game out of it?

Now, this was rather early in the morning on any normal timescale, but hey, normal rules don't apply in Las Vegas, and what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, huh? (If only...).

And to be blunt, a few (hundred) snifters might have livened up what was otherwise a fairly excruciating session in which Gary and Kinsey were seemingly cast in the roles of auto-cuties, reading out lots of heavily-scripted spontaneity - don’t forget to leave a pause for laughter here ...
