Bridging the Access Trust Gap in a Hybrid Workplace

Workplace security must evolve to match how business is conducted. Employees rely on personal and company devices, using unsanctioned applications that increase productivity that can introduce significant risk. Traditional tools fail to monitor or control this dynamic environment, creating an "access trust gap" that businesses must close to remain secure and compliant, said Jeff Shiner, co-CEO of 1Password.

Shiner described "honest security," a model that enables visibility into device vulnerabilities without overstepping user privacy. Businesses can define access policies and restrict app usage without invading personal spaces.

"Microsoft put out a report that said that 92% of successful ransomware starts on an unmanaged device," Shiner said. "So the need to protect this is pretty important."
