Apple Wants to Rewire Your Muscle Memory for the iPhone Fold


Apple's first foldable iPhone could arrive with a radically reimagined button layout and a "new" (but old) biometric approach. On Monday, leaker Instant Digital posted on Weibo that Apple is relocating the iPhone Fold's volume controls to the top-right edge, similar to what we see on the iPad Mini. This means the left edge of the device will be buttonless, maximizing internal space for the device's massive battery and display components.

Dovetailing with previous rumors about the iPhone Fold's biometric features, Instant Digital said the foldable's power button will have built-in Touch ID. A lack of Face ID will reportedly help Apple maintain the phone's extremely slim 4.5-4.8mm profile when unfolded.
