Android 17 Expected to Offer Motion Sickness Relief
extremetech.comGoogle appears to be set to launch a Motion Assist feature in Android 17. The feature helps users combat motion sickness in moving vehicles by displaying on-screen dots that shift with the vehicle's motion. Much like Apple's Vehicle Motion Cues in iOS 18 and onward, this feature helps stave off nausea, headaches, and dizziness for many people by correcting the mismatch between what the eye sees on a still screen and what the inner ear feels as a body moves.
Android Authority caught the feature during an APK teardown in late 2024. Their theory is that Android 16 can't overlay dots on protected system areas, like the status bar or notifications, due to security issues; as a result, Google must wait to introduce the feature with Android 17 (AKA Cinnamon Bun).
