AI Compliance Pressures Mount for CISOs in 2026

Agentic artificial intelligence systems are gaining traction - and regulators are cracking down. That means CISOs face sharper legal and compliance risks in 2026, said attorney Jonathan Armstrong. He advises organizations to scrutinize supply chains, improve transparency and prepare for fragmented global enforcement.

"You're going to have to almost have a governance bot in place to make sure that the agentic stream is done properly end-to-end," said Armstrong, partner at Punter Southall Law. Organizations risk noncompliance if they can't trace how autonomous systems process and share data, he said.
