Agentic AI – you’ll see million-dollar losses before million-dollar gains, warns Cloudera CTO

Cloudera bills itself as the “private AI” platform – a hybrid, multi-cloud environment designed for secure, enterprise-grade data analysis, which lists IBM, Oracle, and Dell among its industry partners.

So, it is odd – if headline grabbing – that its Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Sergio Gago predicts that users of Agentic AI will face “million-dollar losses” long before they see million-dollar gains from their programs.

That is a troubling claim from a man with a twenty-five-year record of tech leadership and data transformation in industry, including spells in quantum computing, hospitality, and ecommerce, and in high-level finance as Head of AI at ratings and capital research agency, Moody’s.

So, what is behind a statement that sounds more like a dire warning than professional advice? As CTO of the “private AI” platform shouldn’t he be talking up the technology, not adding his voice to the chorus of disapproval? There's a good ...
