First, analysts at Gartner predict that over 40% of agentic AI projects will be cancelled by the end of 2027. A troubling finding, given the snowball of agentic solutions in the enterprise, which is leaving some users with an agent for every app or platform.
However, the challenge isn't primarily a 'me too' market among providers – though that is a factor – or what we might call 'agent fatigue' among users. The main causes are escalating costs and unclear business value.
