A raft of in-depth research finds Artificial Intelligence causing far more problems than it solves. Why?

Another day, another report or research paper on artificial intelligence and its enterprise use. Here are the stories that caught my eye this month. (Brace yourselves: the news isn't good. But it is very useful, so do read on.)

First, analysts at Gartner predict that over 40% of agentic AI projects will be cancelled by the end of 2027. A troubling finding, given the snowball of agentic solutions in the enterprise, which is leaving some users with an agent for every app or platform.

However, the challenge isn't primarily a 'me too' market among providers – though that is a factor – or what we might call 'agent fatigue' among users. The main causes are escalating costs and unclear business value.
