Windows 10 Is Dead. Here's What to Do Now
extremetech.comPSA: If you're still running Windows 10, you need to protect your PC today. Windows 10 has reached end-of-life status and will no longer receive updates or security support from Microsoft.
The easiest way to protect your computer is to upgrade to Windows 11. You can do that by buying a new system (if your PC is one of the millions that aren't compatible with the latest OS) or updating the one you have.
Alternatively, you can join Windows 10's extended support program (ESU). For $30, or in a few other ways (mostly for free), you can get an extra year of security updates. There is no troubleshooting or feature support, just security updates. As of October 2026, those will end, too, so regardless, you will need to update or upgrade before long.
