Valve Unveils the Steam Machine, Its Own Desktop Gaming PC
extremetech.comValve is expanding its gaming hardware lineup with the Steam Machine, a compact gaming PC built around SteamOS. The device gives players access to their entire Steam library in a small, quiet, and powerful package. It follows the Steam Deck, Steam Frame, and Steam Controller, the last of which has just received a facelift.
The Steam Machine has a semi-custom AMD Zen 4 processor paired with an RDNA3 GPU that supports 4K gaming at 60 frames per second. Valve says the compact unit has over six times the horsepower of the Steam Deck and still fits into a 6-inch cubic form factor. It includes a built-in power supply, a fan system, and an LED strip that shows system status or download progress.
The system runs on SteamOS 3, a gaming-first operating system based on Arch Linux with the KDE Plasma desktop. The Steam Machine will be available in two versions ...
