Qualcomm and Google Execs Speak on Android for PC


At this week's Snapdragon Summit 2025 in Hawaii, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon and Google VP of devices and services Rick Osterloh took the stage to discuss a long-awaited project: Android for PC. Google has been open about plans for ChromeOS to run on Android since last year, saying the integration would simplify technical efforts and let different devices, such as phones, tablets, and accessories, work together with Chromebooks.

Osterloh explained that Google aims to provide rich computing experiences across all categories, from auto infotainment systems and XR devices to smartphones and, now, even PCs. Historically, the systems used for PC and smartphone platforms have been very limited. Until now, ChromeOS has relied on a virtual machine approach to run apps from the Play Store, which wasn't native and limited the integration.
