OpenAI Launches AI Browser ChatGPT Atlas to Rival Google Chrome, Perplexity Comet

This Tuesday, OpenAI unveiled ChatGPT Atlas, its new web browser built around ChatGPT. Available to all users globally but currently exclusive to macOS, the browser will eventually offer Windows, iOS, and Android versions. In the meantime, Mac users can visit chatgpt.com/atlas to download Atlas and import their bookmarks, passwords, and browsing history from any current browser.

Atlas includes what OpenAI calls "agent mode," which allows ChatGPT to perform online tasks directly for the user. It can research topics, plan events, compare items, or handle repetitive tasks, all inside the same window. The browser also has an optional ChatGPT memory system that remembers browsing context and past chats. According to OpenAI, users remain in control of these memories and can view, edit, or delete them whenever they wish.
