OpenAI Expands Access to Lightweight Deep Research Tool for All ChatGPT Users

OpenAI has announced a new “lightweight” version of its ChatGPT Deep Research, which is now available to ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Pro users. Starting today, free ChatGPT users can also use this update.

The lightweight deep research tool runs on a version of OpenAI’s o4-mini model. OpenAI says it is not as capable as the full version, but it is cheaper to run, which means the company can increase usage limits for everyone.
