Nano Banana 2 Becomes Gemini's Default Image Model With Faster, More Impressive Results
extremetech.comOn Thursday, Google launched its Nano Banana 2 image model, the new default image engine behind Gemini, Search, and other products. The company says Nano Banana 2 combines much faster generation with quality that comes close to its higher-end Pro model.
Nano Banana 2 runs on the Gemini 3.1 Flash Image model, which improves text handling and enhances subject consistency compared to the original version. Google says the model can preserve the look of multiple characters and objects across a set of images, which means it could be used for storyboards, comics, infographics, or whatever else requires continuity.
