Microsoft’s New Windows Search App Download Option Faces Backlash From Users


In April, Microsoft began testing improved Search for Windows 11, but this was only available for Copilot+ PCs. The company has been heavily promoting these AI-powered PCs and recently recommended that Windows 10 users whose systems cannot upgrade to Windows 11 consider purchasing these new devices.

Yesterday, Microsoft announced more changes related to Windows Search. The update will now let users look up certain settings when needed. In addition, Microsoft is allowing users to download apps from the Microsoft Store directly through Search.

Giorgio Sardo, Vice President for App Store & Apps at Microsoft, showed this new app download option on his official X handle.

However, the response from users has been mostly negative. Many expressed that this is an unwanted addition and said they would want to disable it. Other users commented about how modern Windows Search is good at finding everything except the one thing it was designed ...
