Microsoft Releases Built-In Internet Speed Test to Select Windows Insiders
extremetech.comMicrosoft is preparing to introduce a built-in internet speed test to Windows 11, so users will no longer have to rely on third-party websites and applications. The option is currently in preview for Windows Insider builds and appears on the taskbar's network icon. If it's available to you, you can right-click the Wi‑Fi or Ethernet icon and select "Perform speed test" to check your internet speed.
When you click on this new option, Windows 11 opens the default browser and loads a Bing page that hosts an Ookla-powered Speedtest experience. The page measures ping, download, and upload speeds and runs on any active connection, including Wi‑Fi, Ethernet, and mobile data, on supported devices.
According to PCMag, Microsoft is currently testing this feature with a limited group of Insiders; not everyone with Builds 26100.7918 or 26200.7918 can see it yet. But the tool is mentioned ...
