Microsoft Ditches Plans to Bring Copilot to Windows 11 Notifications and Settings


Microsoft has reportedly scrapped plans to embed Copilot more deeply into Windows 11's notifications and settings as it tries to cut AI bloat across the operating system. Could this signal an end to Microslop?

In 2024, the company tested quick-action "suggestions" in notifications. These suggestions helped users generate responses or open related content directly from the notification area. Microsoft also looked into adding Copilot add-ons to the settings app, which would provide more assistant‑style guidance when users change their system settings. But these were never released in any current Insider or public builds, Windows Central reports.

According to the publication's sources, the Copilot-branded notification and settings features are not planned for the near future and are unlikely to see the light of day, at least in their current form.
