Meta Signs $10 Billion Cloud Deal With Google to Expand AI Capacity

Meta has agreed to a deal worth at least $10 billion with Alphabet, Google's parent company. According to Reuters, the agreement will run for six years and allow Meta to use Google Cloud's servers and storage to quickly increase computing capacity for artificial intelligence projects.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg continues to put vast resources into AI, with the company's commitments—including artificial general intelligence and its "Hypernova" smart glasses—totaling hundreds of billions of dollars. Meta already operates more than two dozen data centers and is working on more, including a large facility in Louisiana. However, many of these will take years to be fully ready. By adding Google Cloud, Meta can get the processing power it needs more quickly as competition grows in search, coding tools, real-time summaries, and translation systems.
