iPhone Air Can Withstand 130 Pounds of Pressure, Test Reveals


The newly announced iPhone Air has taken the crown as the thinnest iPhone ever made, measuring just 5.6 millimeters at its slimmest point. That makes it even thinner than the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and iPhone 6, which became infamous for "bendgate," being prone to bending in certain conditions. This has raised the question of whether Apple's bold new design will suffer from the same durability concerns.

In a video shared with Tom's Guide, Apple showed the iPhone Air being subjected to a machine that applied 130 pounds of pressure to the center of the device. The phone returned to its original shape and did not keep its curve after removing the pressure, suggesting it should perform well during regular daily use. Apple claims the iPhone Air meets and exceeds its bend strength standards and calls it the most durable iPhone yet.
